Looking Unto Jesus: The Secret of a Focused Life

Text: Hebrews 12:2; Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:1–2

The Christian life is a journey that demands unwavering focus. In a world filled with distractions, temptations, and uncertainties, God calls His children to fix their eyes on Jesus Christ. Hebrews 12:2 declares, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." Christ is not only the beginning of our faith but also the One who sustains and perfects it.

When Peter walked on water, he remained above the waves as long as his attention was on Jesus. The moment he shifted his focus to the wind and the storm, he began to sink (Matthew 14:29–31). This teaches us that our victory depends on where we place our focus. When our hearts remain fixed on Christ, fear gives way to faith, confusion is replaced by peace, and impossibilities become opportunities for God's power to be revealed.

Jesus also instructed His followers in Matthew 6:33, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." A Christ-centered life always enjoys God's divine provision, direction, and protection. Focusing on Christ transforms our character, strengthens our faith, and equips us to make a lasting impact in our families, churches, workplaces, and communities.

The Apostle Paul further encourages believers in Colossians 3:2, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." As we prioritize Christ above every earthly pursuit, we experience His wisdom, favor, and supernatural intervention in every area of life.

This month, choose to remove every distraction that competes with your devotion to Christ. Spend quality time in prayer, study God's Word daily, and obey His voice. As you remain focused on Jesus, your life will become a testimony of divine intervention, and your influence will bring glory to God.
