There is nothing go for nothing. Nothing cheap on earth. Salvation is cheap but costly. It took Jesus Christ blood and death for us to be saved. Maintaining salvation is very expensive.
It is not not enough to accept Jesus Christ as Lord, there must be total commitment to him to keep our salvation. There is no achievemen without pre-requisite commitment to His word. That is why whosoever wants to build an house, must sit down first, count the cost to ascertain what it's required to accomplish the work. Possessing the kingdom of God is not a mere confession but total obedience to God's counsel.
In our text, Jesus was using a parable to explain the requirement for possessing the kingdom of God. He says "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field".
What is a treasure?
1. A collection of valuable things; accumulated wealth; a stock of money, jewels, etc.
2. Anything greatly valued.
Let's look at the second meaning, which says anything greatly valued. Remember Jesus Christ was describing the kingdom of God is like a hidden treasure in a field that a man discovered, quietly sold all that he had and bought the field in order to take possession of the treasure.
Possessing God's kingdom is more than confessing but selling all that you have. That is, nothing is more important to you than Christ. To compliment this verse, Jesus says in Matt. 16:24-26 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Life is give and take. You must give up to get in. No one can adequately live here on earth without giving and receiving. You must give up everything without reservation for you to possess the kingdom. No pain no gain.
Please give up your pride and arrogancy. Give up your lust, anger, selfishness, hatred and unforgivig spirit, disobedience, oppressive attitude, laziness and procrastination, then trust and have faith in God by relying on the finished work of Christ on the cross, you will never be missing in the kingdom of God.
As you foresake all and pursue after God's righteousness, you will possess everything God has. I see God turning your poverty to wealth and riches. You can never be barren. God is turning your shame to glory. Good health is pursuing after you in Jesus name.
